For the past eight years, students of the Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design have been meeting regularly with hospital patients at Hadassah Hospital-Mount Scopus to enhance their healing. The students come in pairs, once a week for four hours, and facilitate art activities with the patients and their family members, enabling them to express their emotions through art and to experience the fun of creating their own works of art.

Each year, an exhibition of the students’ and patients’ art is launched at Hadassah-Mt. Scopus, jointly sponsored by Bezalel, Hadassah, and Haverut, the organization which initiated the program. Haverut was established in 2007 by Rachel Ettun, in memory of her daughter, Ruth, who passed away from cystic fibrosis at age eleven. Rachel’s goal is to enhance medicine with a connection to spirituality, the creative world, and the community. Click here to view a video of the opening event for the 2014 exhibit.
